September 01, 2012, 7:33 AM ? Much buzz has been made this week over whether the upcoming Apple iPhone 5 will boast near field communications (NFC) technology, with the latest rumors saying it will not. Maybe, just maybe, that's what swayed James Bond to go with a Sony Xperia T instead in his upcoming "Skyfall" movie.

Then again, maybe it's that this is a Sony Pictures release. Or that no iPhone 5 was available during filming.
Anyway, Sony Mobile CEO Hazuo Hirai announced at the IFA mobile show in Berlin yesterday that Daniel Craig's James Bond will be armed this fall with, among other things, one of the company's latest Android smartphones. The Xperia T boasts a 4.6-inch HD screen,13MP camera and NFC functionality.
We look forward to seeing whether it doubles as a weapon, too, such as the taser-phone in "Tomorrow Never Dies" that also scanned fingerprints and could be used to pick locks.
James Bond has used a variety of gadgets and phones over the years, including limited edition silver K800 and K790 Cyber-shot camera phones in the 2006 remake of "Casino Royale." They only had 3.2MP cameras, though, which will pale compared to those in the phone used in the new movie.
