You should take a portion of your paycheck and deposit it in one of those safe investments.

Make sure that the investment you choose will suit your needs and requirements in regard to your health related factors, retirement aspects, etc. How soon you start investing is up to you, but you should make sure that you are doing it by the time you are in your thirties. As time goes on you can also increase the amount that you are investing into each of these investment accounts. Talk to your banker to see what options they suggest you invest in. At work, as time goes on you can increase the amount that you have going from your paycheck into a 401K plan because the company will also invest in your 401K. The more you are able to invest the more the company will invest.

You need to check before you invest just how much the investment you are considering is going to give you in return, the interest rate and whether it is fixed or a variable rate, and how long you have to invest before you can use the money.

Make sure that when you begin investing that you do not invest all your money in just one type of investment. You should choose several so you will be assured of getting something back for your investment such as multi-rated returns. Investing in several different ones will also give you security.
